Meads Green Door Cafe

YUMMM, the smell of breakfast. 

This is my favorite meal of the day! I always wake up looking forward to having my first meal. (Maybe because I've starved my body for a few hours while sleeping). My favorite breakfast consists of eggs, fruit and something warm. Before my clean eating lifestyle, I use to LOVE warm French toast, now I'm addicted to hot cereal or oatmeal (which is definitely a healthier choice) . Breakfast isn't complete without my morning motivation. This includes positive affirmations, motivational speeches on youtube, or some bible scriptures & sermons. My morning routine is VERY important to the flow of my day. 

Meads Green Door Cafe was the choice here. My friend Mario and I have been having breakfast once a week to create work while building new healthy food habits. 

Do you have a hard time making the healthiest choices while out and about? Here are some steps to fix this issue. 

  • Look up near by restaurants in your area before choosing. I usually go onto my google maps and search "healthy restaurants". Sometimes I get lucky and find some cool, new places and other times I don't. 
  • Select the best choice for your cravings. If you are on a strict diet, be honest with yourself and stay disciplined. During my strict days, I sometimes never find healthy choices near by so I always go to a Starbucks and pick up a classic oatmeal & black coffee for breakfast. Other times I head to a grocery store and buy some fresh fruit and raw almonds.  
  • If you are unsure of their menu, Go to their website and look more into it. Restaurants mostly show "gluten free" "Vegan" or "healthy choices" on their healthier items.
  • To decide what is healthy and what is not, I like to use this phrase "Did God make this or not?". haha funny I know but it works! For example "Did god make this Twinkie? Did god make this avocado? Did God make this chicken?".  

Luckily today, I found Meads Green Door Cafe. Their menu provides "Gluten Free" choices and "Vegan" choices. I chose to keep it simple, I ordered: The Quinoa Hot cereal. This consist of Plain Quinoa with pineapple, strawberries, and agave syrup on top with water instead of almond milk. This was the first time I've ever had quinoa hot cereal and WOW! I was tastefully surprised! It was so delicious. I also ordered a side of two whole eggs and water to complete my meal. Mario chose a more delicious plate, The Classic Plate . His plate had two eggs with potatoes, avocado & tomato. He opted out on the choice for sausage or bacon and chose to add some green bell peppers. Mario had a bigger breakfast because he had completed his morning workout. This means that his body was definitely demanding more calories than mine. 

Making healthier choices while out and about doesn't have to be stressful. Do your research, discover new places to eat; you may be surprised of the delicious meals you can find. If you are on the go remember you can always head to Starbucks for their healthy classic oatmeal.
